DIY Steven Universe Amethyst Leggings

We are the Crystal Gems, we'll always save the day! Learn how to make your own Amethyst inspired leggings either for everyday wearin' or cosplay shenanigans.

I don't know about you guys, but I love-love-LOVE the new show Steven Universe. It is a great cartoon about being able to embrace your mess-ups in life and being okay with trying again.  There's a saying on the show, "If every pork chop were perfect, we wouldn't have hotdogs!"

Steven, the main character, isn't some badass superhero who knows exactly how to diffuse a situation. Instead, he stumbles and learns but has amazing support from friends and family. I think that's all we can hope for in life.

I have a makeup/nail series in the works for Steven Universe, but first I wanted to give this DIY a try first! This is a NO SEW tutorial on how to make your own Amethyst leggings, one of Steven's guardians and friends. These are perfect to wear everyday or even for your Amethyst cosplay. Enjoy. :)

You will need:
- Purple scrap fabric or felt
- Fabric marker or chalk
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Black leggings

Step 1. Using your marker or chalk, you will want to trace star shapes on your fabric. And don't forget the little heart above the right star! Once you have everything traced, start cutting everything out.

Step 2. It is best to stretch the leggings on something that mimics your leg, or alternatively, you could just wear the leggings (that's what I did) and find a good placement for your stars.

Step 3. Using hot glue or fabric glue, start gluing those stars to the leggings! Let everything dry. And you're done!

Unfortunately, these cotton leggings are cat hair magnets! And I need to go back and cut off the little dangly fabric bits. Sorry about that. Also, I know in some pictures the shape above the star on Amethyst's legging looks like a rip or tear, but in the opening credits it totally looks like a heart so I went with that theory.

Who is your favorite Crystal Gem? Are there any Steven Universe related DIYs you'd like to see on Nerd Allure?
